Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his family and service in the local community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the US. Lee Roy won two championships, and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received a scholarship for the third year in the year 1975. Selmon obtained his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week of volunteer time in college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. The first job he had was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young males. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He coached his university team in 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
